Memory Foam Mattress Guide Part One

Quality memory foam mattresses guide part one

A memory foam mattress will react to your body temperature adapting to your body shape and weight. The memory foam will therefore support your body evenly, so that the extra pressure is not applied to your shoulders, hips and feet. With a good quality memory foam mattress you should wake up feeling alert and rejuvenated. If you suffer with a bad back, aches and pains, find it painful or difficult to turn over a quality memory foam mattress can help tenfold.

First memory foam mattresses

Memory foam mattresses were first used for medical patients who spent much time in bed and were at risk or suffering with pressure sores. Air mattresses were used previously and in some establishments they still are. However if you have ever slept on an air mattress they are anywhere near as comfortable as a memory foam mattress, and can be quite noisy too. When I was a nurse, I knocked the hose out a couple of times as there wasn't much room to move and the mattress started to deflate. Luckily the patients found it funny, despite my embarrassment.

It was eventually realised that the people who slept on the memory foam mattresses seemed to wake up feeling more rejuvenated and with fewer aches and pains. This led to memory foam mattress being available to the general public. They were made by the medical industry and were very expensive and out of most people budgets. Luckily the established bedmakers started to produce memory foam mattresses and they became more affordable.

A good quality memory foam mattress is a better investment

Unfortunately cheap, lesser quality memory foam mattresses have followed. They may seem like a bargain, though not necessarily good value. Also imports have increased, many are far inferior and you can't be assured of fire safety and nasty chemicals as the UK regulations are very strict. Top quality memory foam is not cheap to make so if the price seems to good to be true it probably is. As my mum always says buy too cheap, buy twice.

A few of the benefits of a memory foam mattress

Memory foam adapts to your body for superb levels of comfort. It will adapt to your individual body shape and weight.

Because of the pressure relieving properties of memory foam you won't toss and turn so much therefore giving you a much deeper sleep. When you turn over in bed it is usually the body relieving pressure from an area of your body. Quality memory foam relieves pressures and improves ciruclation so this is minimised.

Memory foam is silent in such that it absorbs the vibrations caused by the person next to you moving so you won't be disturbed by the movement.

A good quality memory foam is generally hypo-allergenic. It is more resistant to mildew, mold and the dreaded dustmites. A poor quality memory foam however can be the opposite as it will attract and retain moisture.

Memory foam has many benefits which will be spoken about further later on. In a nutshell a memory foam mattress can give you a luxurious nights sleep and if it's a good quality memory foam mattress it will do so for many years.
