Children's Mattresses

Choosing the right mattress for a children's bed ensures that your child gets a well rested, beneficial and comfortable nights sleep. A good night's sleep is probably more important for a child than us and if a child sleeps on a poor mattress they won't receive this. I'm fit for nothing if I don't get a good night's sleep and find it hard to concentrate the next day.

A child who has a poor sleep will have less concentration and general malaise. All children are different, a tired child can be cranky or the other extreme and feel extra sensitive and unhappy. Children grow and develop during their sleep. The correct support and comfort from a decent children's mattress will ensure a deeper, more restful sleep with less tossing and turning. This also allows the spine to align correctly and posture to be correct with less pressure on the body.

It is easy to think that the cheapest mattress for a child will do as they are only light. Time and time we see bunk beds with free mattress and we know full well these are the budget-est of cheapest mattresses (don't think this is a real word). We could do this, however  where we do include a mattress it isn't the one included from the manufacturer we replace it with our £80 basic mattress.

Our childrens mattresses start from £80 which are basic mattresses, however they do give a younger child some comfort. We appreciate that everyone has a budget, this is why we give them to you at £42 when you buy them with a children's bed. We would prefer not to make any money than you go elsewhere and buy a £40 mattress.

Please don't be lead to believe the bigger the brand, the more you pay the better the mattress for your children. With the larger brands, you are paying for that, the brand name. You will get more for your money with a less well know brand who rely on quality and word of mouth, rather than advertising.

A firm mattress is not recommended for a child, the exception to this can be for an older child of over average weight. Younger children are best with a medium mattress or medium firm mattress. Whether this be a sprung mattress, pocket sprung or foam mattress is up to individual preference. Cheaper mattresses won't have as many fillings and the spring unit can be rather inferior.

If you have any questions about which mattress is best for your children please contact us to discuss your requirements. Even if you buy elsewhere we are happy to help as we are parents and appreciate that you want the best for your child as do we for ours.
