Bedroom - Creating the Perfect Bedroom

The perfect bedroom design is down to personal preference. There are however a few common elements we can all apply to help create a bedroom for a good night sleep to recharge mind and body.

A few tips to help create the perfect bedroom environment

Keep your bedroom clean and tidy. If the bedroom is free of clutter and tidy you can fully relax. Have a good old sort out and recycle those clothes you have been hoping will come back in fashion. Or anything else in the bedroom you don't really need in there. If space is limited make the most of what you have with clever bedroom furniture. An ottoman bed is the bed which will give you the most storage capacity. A wooden bed with drawers, either built into the bed, often referred to as a Captains bed or roll under drawers can give you extra storage space. If you prefer a divan beds, most divans are available with drawers.

A breath of fresh air purifies the bedroom

Fresh air is important, we all know the saying "like a breath of fresh air". Ensure windows are opened as often as possible even in the cold winter months.

Create the right ambiance in the bedroom

Try not to put the big light on when you are going to bed to sleep. A low lamp light or dimmer light is better for reading in bed. If you work nights get the best blackout curtains or blinds you can afford. It is very important for your well-being to have the room as dark as possible.

Candles create a soothing or romantic ambiance. Non toxic, natural candles are the best, even better if they contain essential oils. Please don't leave them unattended or if you are so tired and may fall asleep with them lit.

Avoid distraction in the bedroom

It is usually advised to rid the bedroom of the television and computers. I refuse to have computers in the bedroom and advise not too. However I go against the grain and have a television in my bedroom so it would be hypocritical if I said not to do this. I work hard and have young children and rather than find it a distraction I find watching TV or reading in bed helps me switch off and unwind from the day. I do have quartz and amethyst crystals all around the bedroom to counteract the electromagnetism that the TV projects. Whether they work or not I don't know, it makes me feel better though. Try not to fall asleep with the television on though as this can disrupt your sleep pattern

A few feng shui tips.

Use soothing colours on the walls to achieve a good feng shui balance in your bedroom. A balanced decor promotes the best flow of energy for restorative sleep. Earthy colours, whites, creams, beige, ivory, up to rich chocolate brown work best. If that is not your taste pastel colours are next best. I don't promote this for a children's bedrooms they can be which ever colour best suits your child's personality.

Choose the images for your bedroom wisely, as images carry powerful feng shui energy. Choose images that you want to see happening in your life. Try not to use sad and lonely images in your bedroom.

If room allows have your bed easily approachable from both sides, have two bedside tables (one on each side), and avoid having the bed in a direct line with the door.

A "good looking" and well-balanced bed is very important in creating a perfect bedroom. What is good looking to one is different to another so there is no perfect bed. A good mattress, solid headboard and high quality, clean sheets are also very important in creating harmonious energy. You know that feeling when your sheets are freshly laundered, there is nothing like it.

Close bedroom doors at night, such as wardrobe doors, armoires, the en-suite bathroom or the bedroom door. This will allow for the best and most nourishing flow of energy throughout the bedroom to strengthen your health, as well as the health of your relationship.

The idea of a perfect bedroom may bring different images to different people, but we all have one thing in common, pleasure, relaxation and dreaming.

Oh and a final note from me to the perfect sleep never suffer with cold feet always wear your socks, I wear mine in bed!
