Wooden Beds guide:
With such a diverse choice of wooden beds on the market it can be difficult to decide which wood type to choose for your bed frame. At sleepland beds we only sell solid wooden bed frames. You can be assured whichever wooden bed frame you choose will only be made with thick and top quality solid wood.
Maple Wood
Maple wooden beds are a great choice if you are looking for a bed that is made to last. Maple wood has a very closed grain and is a one of the strongest and durable woods, therefore a bed frame made from maple wood is truly solid and resilient.
Maple hardwood has a warm tone, and is characterised by a soft grain appearance.
If you are looking to team up a maple bed with existing maple furniture the chances are it will not match. Maple wood varies from a light cream to golden honey. Our maple wooden beds from Joseph are naturally a warm golden honey colour. The maple wood is unique to Joseph and is eco-friendly.
Oak Wood
Oak wooden bed frames are also a great choice for strong and sturdy bedroom furniture. Oak furniture are generally lightly stained to achieve their colour with the beautiful grain shown through.
Pine Wood
With pine wooden beds the grain is more open and there are different types of knots, shakes and naturally occurring blemishes.
Most pine bed frames on the market are very pale, lightweight, use very thin wood and do not make for a solid and sturdy bed frame. They will not last for very long at all.
A good quality pine wooden bed will last many years, over time the colour will darken, doors and drawers may shrink and splits may occur, this is not seen as defective as it highlights the natural beauty of the bed frame.
We have chosen to sell pine furniture that is chunky and sturdy. The pine wood used is Brazilian pine which is 32mm thick, the drawer sides and backs are made from 21mm thick pine to ensure that the product is strong and durable. The quality of the pine bed frame is backed up with a 2 year guarantee from the bedmaker verona pine.
Wenge Wood
Wenge is a highly exotic tropical hardwood from Africa. It is very dense, and is very dark brown in color, it appears almost black. On the quarter sawn surface, fine pencil-thin light tan lines interspersed with blackish brown stripes make the surface appear like it has been stroked by the fine claws of a wild tiger. On the tangential surface, the light lines show up as undulating streaks, like waves on the water. Wenge furniture is highly distinctive and can form the basis of a great dinner conversation!
